7 months ago, Instagram introduced video as a new feature on its app and we definitely have to agree that it was a smart move on their part.

Since then, brands have been in competition to try and create the most engaging videos for us all to watch and share. With just 15 seconds to play with…let’s take a look at the top 10 brands that are killing it with Instagram video…

10. McDonalds

So McDonalds don’t have a huge amount of videos, but the ones that they do have are quite literally amazing. Without the need for a voiceover or even people, they use their food and packaging to tell the story. It’s so simple yet so effective. Check out this video that shows how creative you can be without the need for a big budget!

9. Burberry

Burberry is an iconic luxury British brand and this is very much reflected in every post they release. They’re pretty creative with their videos with scenes shot straight from the runway showcasing their latest apparel, cool footage of their models and videos of their vintage van driving around delivering Burberry gifts to the people of London.

8. Nintendo

Nintendo is great for bringing out the child inside of you! Visually their Instagram page looks a bit messy, but if you scroll to the videos you’ll find exciting previews of upcoming games. They also created a real buzz last year by posting retro videos of children receiving Nintendo products for Christmas and it really does make for a great watch...

7. MTV

If MTV aren’t getting videos right then there’s something seriously wrong. Luckily for them (and their 1,938,534 followers) they are. Pretty much every post on their page is video – and rightly so! They fill the 15 seconds with celeb news, interviews on the red carpet and previews for upcoming shows that you can expect to see on all of their MTV channels.

6. Hollister

Hollister is an American lifestyle brand by Abercrombie & Fitch Co. Hollister does its best to capture the California dream - think sun, surfing and beaches and you’re on the right track. They post regular videos from their ‘Socal Stylist’ with handy tips and updates on their latest apparel. All shot in beautiful locations, Hollister have really got to grips with how to create the perfect Instagram video for their fans…

5. BBC News

The BBC has taken to Instagram video like a duck to water. Every single post on their account is a video that they like to call ‘BBC Instafix’. Their videos are simple, creative and surprisingly fun! They’ve got a real mixed bag to view, from hard hitting interviews with world leaders, to unfortunate incidents on live TV… BBC Instafix doesn’t miss a trick!

4. Peanuts

Remember Snoopy and the gang? Well they have an official Instagram and it’s surprisingly doing really well… So much so that it made the 3rd most shared brand on Instagram video! Their videos are mostly clips from the TV show or fun animations that fans have sent in. Whether it’s for nostalgic reasons or simply the need for something lighthearted, Peanuts is a great brand to follow…

3. Red Bull

Red Bull is an aspirational brand and that’s exactly what you can expect on their Instagram. They post incredible videos of extreme sports, with everything from wakeboarding to motorcycle stunts in the mix. It also helps that they shoot their videos in amazing locations all over the world, so as you can imagine each video is quite simply breathtaking!

2. Hugo Boss

The Hugo Boss Instagram account is stylish in every sense of the word. All of their posts have been well thought out to match their brand. The majority of their videos showcase their products (whether it’s shoes, perfume, bags or sunglasses) in a unique way. Each video begins with a hash tag so that their users can search for the term on Instagram, then the product effortlessly falls from the sky and it ends on their logo…

1. Go Pro

As a brand that makes money from selling cameras, Go Pro is definitely one to follow. Their images alone will keep you scrolling for hours, but since the introduction of video, Go Pro has entered another league. From mountain bike back flips over a 72ft canyon, to deep sea diving with whales, this is one brand that has definitely mastered the Instagram video!

I eat, sleep and breathe great content so it kinda works out for me that I get to do this as a job. But waaaaait, I'm not one dimensional..... I also LOVE peanut butter, odd socks, running, daydreaming about time and space, corgis in top hats, afternoon tea and Chandler Bing.
