6 Simple Steps to Increasing Conversions With a Video

Did you know that shoppers that view a video are 85% more likely to buy, than visitors who do not? As one of the most engaging ways to connect with your audience, a video is a sure-fire way to increase your conversion rates.

But how do you make sure you have done everything you possibly can, to get the results you want? Check out our six simple steps on how you can increase conversions with a video…

#1 Speak in their language

The key to creating a conversion-friendly video is to speak in the same language as your customers. When you write your script, try not to litter it with buzzwords. You may think that they work, but in fact their just a bunch of big words that don’t really mean anything. Do plenty of research and find out exactly who you are targeting, then find out the language they like to use.

#2 Keep it Simple

Your message needs to be clear and simple. It’s really hard to attract a persons attention for a long period of time, so make sure you keep your video short and to the point. As a rule of thumb, we advise to keep your video between 1-2 minutes. If you’re struggling to get your point across in such a short amount of time then check out this previous blog post about on how to tell your story in 30 seconds.

#3. Include benefits, not features

So you’ve got an amazing product and it has a ton of features that you want to brag about in your video? Well, the thing about your customers is that they don’t really care too much about features. They want to know what’s in it for them – and that’s where benefits come in. Show them how your product will help them and you’ll see a much bigger response.

#4. Choose the type of video

So there’s a few different types of video that you can create to boost those sales. A product demo video is ideal if you want to give your customers a sneak preview of a product. A website or app video uses screen recording technology to demonstrate how to use your product, and an animated video is the perfect chance to tell the story of your company or product in an engaging way.

#5. Tell a story

It depends on the type of video you want to create but generally, telling a story in your video is a great way to keep people engaged for longer. We have created many animated videos in our time and we tend to stick to similar rules. Firstly, place a character in your video that relates to your customers and the problems they may face. Then, introduce your brand, and explain to the viewer how you solve the problems. For examples of this, check out our animated with characters videos.

#6. Use a killer CTA

Your CTA is pretty darn integral to converting prospects into sales so you need to give it some thought. The CTA tends to go at the end of the video as a way to finish off the story. Think about what you want your customers to do once they’ve watched the video? Do you want them to call you? Sign up for an account? Buy a dress? Let them know in that close of sale at the very end.

#6. Get it in front of your customers

Once you’re happy with your video, it’s time to post it on your website and social channels. The thing is, not every social channel is the same so you need to optimise it according to each platform. When it comes to YouTube, make sure you give your video a good description and tag it with relevant keywords so Google can pick up on it. Use keyword hashtags on Twitter, and create a discussion on Facebook. If you’re putting it on your website, make sure you put it in relevant places so that your customers will see it. For example, if it’s a product video, it needs to go with your products.
