Hi, I'm Hassan, Social Media Executive here at Wyzowl. Today I'm going to talk about how you can use video content on social media to boost understanding, engage your users and generate leads.

Across social media video is on the rise in a big way particularly on Facebook. In fact, last year the number of videos post per person increased by a huge 75%. The amount of videos from people in brands in peoples' newsfeeds has also increased, 3.6 times year over year. There's no doubt about it video is becoming an increasingly central part of our experience on social media. But how do you use it? What sort of content should you share and how do you achieve your goals?

Here are a few ideas...

Pin a Video to the Top of your Pages

A nice starting point is to share your explainer video on your page.

Facebook and Twitter both allow you to pin posts to the top of your page so it's the first thing users see, and with 44% of people choosing video as their favourite way to learn about a new product or service this is the perfect way to give them your elevator pitch and get the interested.

A well placed call to action at the end of the video is a good way to drive traffic back to your website for more information, or get them to call you.

Share Content that Adds Value

Our lives are so saturated with content that mediocre videos clips just aren't going to cut the mustard. If you're looking engagement you need to ask yourself whether the content you're sharing is truly remarkable? Is it inspirational? Informative? Educational? Or entertaining? Does it teach your audience how to do something and is it on brand?

With all content marketing the trick is getting out your own shoes and stepping into your customers. If you wouldn't watch it to the end end, engage with it or share it with your friends, you can bet your customers won't either. Sharing compelling, unique content is a sure firer way to get your users interacting with your posts, as well as exposing your posts to a wider audience thanks to social shares.

Remember human beings are hard wired for stories and videos is a perfect way to tell yours. Let your personality shine through.

Increase Engagement with Short Form Video

Of course video doesn't need to be lengthy or expensive to create, Vine and Instagram both have a short form video functionality allowing you to upload clips at 6 and 15 seconds respectively.

Despite the phenomenal popularity of short form video we've found that's currently under utilised amongst businesses. In a recent survey, just 10% of companies said it was something they tried. This is crazy because it's so easy to do and so engaging; best of all this content tends to work well across all channels, not just Vine and Instagram.

Generate Leads using Gated Videos

The benefits of video marketing extend far beyond fan engagement and brand awareness, it can also help generate leads for your business. But to do this using social you need to think outside the box.

You could record a social teaser clip, something quick and simple that explains what the video is about and points them towards a landing page or website where the can watch the full video, and you can capture their data.

Wistia's turnstile feature gives you the ability to capture viewer data before they can watch all or part of your video. They say lead capture forms across all accounts convert at around 16% which is quite impressive, but forms within the first 20 seconds of a video convert at an incredible 43%.
