So you’ve recently come up with a super awesome idea for a mobile app and you’re ready to release it out into the world, but did you know...

In the past 3 years over 300, 000 apps have been developed! Those numbers are HUGE. And if you don’t want to feel like a small fish in an extremely BIG pond, promoting your app anyway you can should be the number one priority on your list! But how do you go about getting those sales? Take a look at my suggestions…

Create a video

After you’ve shouted about it on your social media pages, got your family and friends to rate it and paid for advertisements, your next step has to be, create a video! There are plenty of reasons that a video can help you promote your app, but if you take a look at our fascinating blog about video statistics, you can see that the numbers really do speak for themselves.

OK I’m in, how do I make my video?

An app video is the perfect platform for you to show your customers what they can expect if they buy your app. When planning out the script for your video, try and imagine that you were explaining to a friend how to use it and note each step down. The ideal way to go about it is by demonstrating in the video the very best features on the app in a user-friendly way and how it will appeal to them.

Your app video shouldn’t be too long. 60 seconds will be enough to demonstrate the best points about your app without leaving your visitors feeling bored or switching off. The secret to gaining more sales using a video is to always leave your audience wanting more. So bear this in mind when you’re creating a video and remember, your call to action is crucial in getting people to download your app!

When it comes to filming your video, you can record your app by using a handheld camera whilst tapping on each feature on your own phone. This is one way to do it if you want a quick solution to getting a video for your app. Or you could try another way…

So how do I USE my video to get more sales?

Once you have your brand new shiny video, you are then free to do with it as you wish. If you have a website then that’s a great place to start! Using it on your homepage will attract visitors straight away to watch your video and you should start to see some sales.

Don’t stop there…

After you’ve got your video up and running on your own website, your blog and your social media sites, it’s time to venture further. You Tube is a great start and since 3 billion videos are viewed on You Tube everyday, it’s definitely a great idea to get your video on there!

You Tube isn’t the only option though. You could try Vimeo, in which you can sign up for a free account and enjoy limited uploads, or receive unlimited uploads with a paid account. You may be surprised at the next one but Flickr (it’s not all about images!) is another website that’s great for hosting videos. If you want to sign up for a free account then the website will let you upload 2 videos per month, alternatively you can pay for an unlimited account.

If your app is available for the Android then you can add a video alongside it on Google Play. This opens you up to thousands of potential customers who will be already looking for an app anyway. And if you have a video it will make you stand out amongst the crowd, so potential customers can then get a taster of what to expect from your app!

Good luck!

I eat, sleep and breathe great content so it kinda works out for me that I get to do this as a job. But waaaaait, I'm not one dimensional..... I also LOVE peanut butter, odd socks, running, daydreaming about time and space, corgis in top hats, afternoon tea and Chandler Bing.
