So you've created a mobile app?

Awesome!

For the first time ever there are MORE mobile devices in the world than there are people. So if you're in the app making industry then you've definitely made a smart choice to reaching the biggest audience possible.

But that also means that you're in a crowded market. In fact, the app market is SO crowded that there are 1.5 million apps in the Apple Store alone.

So how do you get your app to stand out? Well, a video is a great place to start.

A video can not only make your mobile app stand apart from the crowd, but it'll also bring you a ton of other benefits....

Wanna know what they are?

Then take a look at this video from our Content Marketing Manager Adam, to find out exactly why you need a video of your mobile app....

And for the full transcript of the video, check it out below:

#1. Increases user understanding

There's an old Chinese proverb that goes 'Tell me and I'll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I'll understand.'

Video lets users see exactly how your app works, what it does and what they'll get if they download or buy. This can help sell the benefits of your app and help people understand whether your app will do what they need it to do. Increased user understanding has the added benefit of potentially cutting your support queries -- which can't be a bad thing!

#2. Optimise your app page

You can also use video to Beef Up Your App Page. With the best will in the world, you can't realistically expect today's user to read mountains of text about your app. But a short 1-2 minute video? Much more realistic.

#3. Build realistic expectations

Another benefit of video is that it Builds Realistic Expectations. The better a user understands what your app does and doesn't do, the more likely they are to be happy with it once they've downloaded it.

This creates a real virtuous cycle -- not only can it reduce your user churn, but you can realistically expect more positive reviews and ratings, too... which can all entice potential new users.

#4. Tell your story

Seth Godin said 'marketing is no longer about the products we make but the stories we tell.' And our final point is that video is a fantastic way to Tell Your Story.

Scientists reckon that the human brain processes visual content around 60,000 times faster than text -- and 90% of information transmitted to the brain is -- you guessed it -- visual. Your video says so much about your app and your business; not just on a conscious level, but subconsciously, too.

The summary...

So, in summary, we'd suggest using a video on your website as an overview of your app. You can showcase a 30 second App Preview video with Apples App store, and get slightly more in-depth with a longer demo on the Google Play Store. If you have a more complex app, having a series of how-to videos may also help your users get more out of your app - for example, you could walk your users through certain features and functions.

I eat, sleep and breathe great content so it kinda works out for me that I get to do this as a job. But waaaaait, I'm not one dimensional..... I also LOVE peanut butter, odd socks, running, daydreaming about time and space, corgis in top hats, afternoon tea and Chandler Bing.
